At This Time Of The Year

So, few more hours and we’ll be starting a brand new year…
As usual, most of us start thinking. Thinking of the past year, thinking of the coming year. Wondering what was the best of last year. Regretting the wrongs we did. Calculating the many goals we’ve missed. Being excited about what the new year has to offer us. Or maybe being a bit scared of what it would throw our way…

Many would go over their sweet-memory album. Pick the photos of those they lost, hang it over their beds, and drop millions of tears to warm up their empty homes…

Many would pick the photos of those who are away, hug them tight, smile for a moment, and then cry for hours, wishing things weren’t the same, hoping the pictures were flesh and blood, and that the world was too small, that no matter how far they’re loved ones would go, they can still see them from a distance…

Many would pick the photos of the little new members added to them. Such photos always help refresh the memory of the time they were kids, when their parents took pics of them at that age. And then they’ll start picturing this peaceful little baby as he grows, and wonder if they’ll be still there to see the pic of his new born son…

Many would pick the photos of things they possess. Things they like. Mom’s vase, grandpa’s chair, uncle’s frame, wedding ring, first anniversary’s pic, 18th birthday watch…
Many others would draw pictures of things they wish to have…and then an old dried up red rose falls from the book on the table. A rose given to them by someone they once loved. A painful flashback of their memory haunts them. If they were the heartbreakers, they’ll grab the rose and cry this (X) a river. If they were the heartbroken, they’ll grab the rose, smell it, put it back with a smile, maybe a tear. They’re still in love… or they decide to throw it out the window… they got over their old love. Now the rose will fall in the hands of someone new, to light their lives with love, or to break their hearts too…

And many would pick their albums, look in, look again, and again, and again… nothing. No pics. Not a single picture, because there are no memories in the first place. They wasted their lives doing the wrong kind of thing. They spent their time with the wrong kind of people. All they cared about was the joy of the moment. They didn’t expect their life will fly by that fast, they never expected to become weak one day. They never thought a day will come when they’re left all alone…not even an album to capture their wasted moments…

At the end of each year, and the start of a new one, many will try to put some goals. Many will just enjoy the clock ticking 12 in the place they’ve been planning to be at many many weeks ago…

Many will witness a big change, many wont. Many will work hard to become better, and many will become lazy and silly enough to become worse.

In the brand new year, many will decide to have a brand new life… but still, in the brand new year, many will choose to repeat their old same life…

Let’s all look for change, fruitful change. Let’s all put goals, constructive ones, and let’s work hard to reach them.
Start your new year with a prayer to God. Begin your new year with a smile, and be sure to draw a smile on someone else’s face.
Begin your new year with a brand new high spirit. Be a peaceful soul that aims at helping others. Try to make a positive change in this crazy world. Because you can’t change the world, but you can change yourself, and that makes the whole difference…

Happy New Year 2005 Everybody! May God bless us all, and may HE grant us good health, happiness and good company.
